Great News, Champagne is not just a New Year’s toast or special occasion celebration, research shows a glass a day helps keep away Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and the Trauma of Stroke.
Champagne has now been found to help your brain. That’s why I’m so smart; it’s my story, I’m sticking with it and now there’s scientific proof.
Champagne can only be called Champagne if it comes from a specific region in the north of France, just 90 miles outside of Paris, called Champagne. Champagne used to be called the Devil’s wine because the bottles would blow up. Once Dom Perignon figured out the method it became very popular, and still is. Veuve Clicquot took it to another level and now we are learning that Champagne has anti inflammatory qualities for the brain, sweet. Like we needed more reasons to drink Champagne.
Champagne has now been found to be more than just delicious. Recent studies have shown that moderate consumption of Champagne (1 glass a day) may help the brain cope with the trauma of stroke, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.
The high amount of the antioxidant polyphenols in Champagne help prevent deterioration of brain cells due to oxidative stress. The minerality in the soil, in my opinion, has a role as the terroir of Champagne is predominantly chalk which has different mineral qualities. Little research has gone into the benefits of the soil so far but I conduct daily experiments.
During the Champagne study scientists exposed two groups of mice with blanc de blancs (all Chardonnay) and blanc de noir (a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) and a control group with no exposure to Champagne. All groups were then subjected to high levels of neurotoxicity similar to what the human brain experiences during inflammatory conditions. The study found that the groups pre-treated with exposure to Champagne had a higher level of cell restoration compared to the group that wasn’t.
I know I always feel better when drinking Champagne.
